If anyone is interested in taking a look at the project that has eaten up all of my art time, jenesisproducts.com is now up and running.  It took over 200 hours of work to get the infrastructure in place, but you can now buy any of the battery powered LED lighting products available on the site.  If you do take a look I'd love to hear feedback.  I've been using my family members as beta testers, but the average DA user is significantly more web savvy than my aunts and uncles, so I would put a lot more weight on your opinions when it comes to effective presentation and online salesmanship.

My job continues, but I've decided to kick of a new 30 Days Series anyway.  I need something to make what free time I do have more productive.  With all the stuff I'm doing I don't expect to actually be able to produce one piece every day.  In fact this first piece took me three days to complete, and I don't even think it's that good.  Oh well, I'll still be doing 30 entrees no matter how long it takes or how frustrated I am with my most recent work.  So I hope you enjoy 30 Days of Ships.  Criticism is always welcome.

I made it. Despite a week of homelessness, moving across five time zones from Michigan to Hawaii, setting up a new apartment, spending all of yesterday at the DMV buying a car, and having my internet connection cut for three days, 30 Days of Characters was still completed on time. I'm quite pleased with the results, and once again the skills improvement has been significant.  I don't know how long it will be before I can get back to my artwork, because I've finally landed a paying gig with all of my new skills.  I'm going to be doing web development for a small engineering firm.  There will still be plenty of travel pictures on my website (ht

you have some great ideas here! I was wondering, is it possible that I could follow your example and take a shot at trying some of these 'thirty days of' collections?
OF COURSE! Paging through your gallery I'd say you've got a heads-up on my in skill, especially when it comes to human anatomy, but anybody can benefit from this exercise, especially if you intentionally pick topics where you feel you may be weak.

From my experience, there seems to be something magical about doing 30 entries. 1-15 are usually pretty mundane and straight-forward to produce. 20-25 are often fairly arduous and sometimes personally disappointing. But if you slog through the rough spot, the final five entries start to show just how much an intentional habit of creativity can really improve the quality of your work.
my, you were active for a new member! XD
haha, I was pretty active even BEFORE I joined DA. There's three times as much stuff on my own website (grandwanderer.com) than I have here.
lol I meant into the openspecies group :P
ah, yes...that too ;)
